A Gauge to Measure

To let others take advantage of you is to be good. That is, by their definition, For the perpetual losses that you suffer in consequence, you will be rewarded with rich and rare words of praise. Occasionally a confidant will have a word of sympathy for your idiocy.

To show sympathy for the truth the right, the just, is to create suspicions between yourself and those you trust and love — your wife, children, friends, and the society or community at large.

To refuse to join hands and travel along with the wrong, the evil, the false, is to go a step further and create rifts between yourself and others. Notice the crack in the cup of love.

But to proclaim and preach the truth and actively condemn the wrong, that is, instead of merely being good, demand of others to be good and change their attitude towards right and wrong, towards virtue and evil, towards truth and falsehood is to create animosity between yourself and those you have long trusted and loved. Now you can prepare yourself for persecution.

And, by the numbers that trust and love you by the numbers you trust and love you can to quite some accuracy judge your personal attitude towards truth and falsehood.
