Vessels

To be given the world and all that it contains is to be given nothing. What use the vessel without contents? To guard and protect them is additional botheration, you will understand. But to be given the vessel as the source of joy is to be given all. And, in fact, sitting at the source of a mountain-stream, you need no vessels. Do you ? So there is no point in hankering after more and more of them. Is there?

God is the source of all joy and contentment. To be near Him is to be at the source. You can do without vessels. To be away from this source is to be carrying lots of vessels :- automobiles, refrigerators, a fat bank account and a palatial mansion wherein your wife knits and children play. Look into these vessels. You may be carrying grief in them.
